Wild Nutrition: Our journey from A to B Corp
Eight years after Wild was founded, we're still growing without compromise, in a way that reflects our commitment to our customers and the planet.
BY CHARLIE NORTON, CO-FOUNDER
My wife Henrietta and I began the Wild Nutrition journey back in 2013. Wild’s first office was literally our garden shed in Sussex, where Hen worked all hours to formulate what would become our original batch of products.
Eight years on, we’re still growing and trying our absolute best to do it in an uncompromising way. From day one, we’ve been committed to making the right choices: not only for you, our customers, but also the planet. Nothing has changed there.
We need the extra space too (we outgrew the shed a while back). We’ve got lots of inspiring projects on the go and after such a challenging year, it feels like we’re now in a very good place.
Joining the B Corp movement
Everyone in the Wild family is unbelievably proud to have achieved B Corp certification. It’s been a long and rigorous process but totally worth the effort.
We are now officially recognised for meeting the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose - these values have always been at the heart of everything we do, but this cements our purpose.
There are only a few hundred certified B Corps in the UK, and fewer than 4,000 worldwide, so we feel privileged to be a part of a movement that includes brands we really admire, like Patagonia and Riverford.
We know we still have work to do, but B Corp certification tells us - and our community - that we are making real progress.
A fruitful new partnership
As we become part of a global movement for good, I’m incredibly excited that we have recently partnered with Piper, an investment company who have previously helped build brilliant brands such as Bloom & Wild and Mindful Chef.
We couldn’t have found a better fit than Piper - they too are on the road to becoming a B Corp - and we’re really looking forward to working closely with them to further amplify our mission in helping support the health of our customers. Here are just some of the exciting projects we’re working on:
-
Developing new products that can make a real difference to your well-being - look out for some very exciting news this summer.
-
Continuing to push boundaries in terms of making the right choices, from reducing our carbon footprint to how sustainable our packaging is - for example, many of our products are now available in plastic-free Refill Pouches.
-
Offering more support to our ingredient suppliers. We believe passionately in ethical and sustainable sourcing and will double down in our efforts to support the best growers across the world.
-
Increasing our commitment to our home town of Lewes - we’re about to open a fantastic new space that will enable us to be much more hands-on and give us more room to deliver the best service to our customers.
- Creating new jobs in the local community - we have a small but brilliant team of 28 people, and we are looking to bring in more talented people (check out our careers page to see what roles are available).
A big thank you
Before I sign off, I want to flag up the contribution that everyone in the Wild Nutrition family - our team here in Lewes, our partners, and our customers - has made in the last eight years. Genuinely, we wouldn’t be here today without you.
To our customers especially… you tell us all the time how our supplements are transforming your lives for the better. Honestly, there’s no greater reward for us as Founders than hearing your positive feedback. Supporting people on their health journeys, and doing it in a natural and ethical way, is the reason why we started.
Thank you so much for the part you have played in Wild’s journey. Because of your amazing support, we will continue to thrive together.
